Another season rule out for Tyrone.

Coney is now the second player that requires surgery in the County team, along with injured forward Ronan O’Neill who sustained a cruciate ligament knee injury; both players are set to miss the rest of the Gaelic football season.

Abdominal Muscle Strain

Description:

An abdominal strain occurs when the rectus abdominus is torn or ruptured.  The abdominal muscles allow movement, assist with breathing, and provide support to the spine.  They consist of the internal and external obliques, rectus abdominus, and the transversus abdominus.  The transversus abdominus muscle is triangular and flat, and the rectus abdominus is long and flat.  If the abdominal muscles become weak or tight, they can cause poor posture and back pain.

Flail Chest

Description:

A flail chest occurs as a result of a trauma to the chest, leading to at least 3 ribs becoming fractured or broken, close together, with pieces of bone detaching from the chest wall.  These segments of bone start to move independently of the chest wall and in the opposite direction because of lung pressure. The damaged rib cage prevents the lungs expanding fully, in this area.
