Wigan Warriors winger Pat Richards injured his knee during the Super League game with Hull FC on Sunday.
The Irish-Australian professional rugby player could be sidelined for at least a month after sustaining ligament injury.
Coach – Shaun Wane said: “It is a shame to lose Pat, I thought he was terrific at Hull, he had a scan on Monday and he will go and see the surgeon (on Tuesday). He could be out for anything between four and six weeks.”
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is hoping that he won’t be ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.
The blues player suffered a hamstring injury in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on Tuesday.
Cahill said: “I’m hoping it’s not as bad as we first thought. But it’s high up, which they tell me is probably better than it being right in the middle.”
